If you’ve just introduced multiplication and moving on with area of a rectangle, it will be easier for the students to learn area by visual representation. Students will see that multiplying the number of rows times the number of unit squares in each row is easier and faster than counting the individual boxes.

Includes poster for your classroom in black and white and color as well explaining how to obtain the area of a rectangle. This practice will help make students more avid in multiplication. Can be used as worksheets or as task cards for math centers. For reuse simply laminate, punch hole the corner, place on a ring and use with erasable markers.
