Item description

Want to make introducing the time period in which “A Christmas Carol” was set more interesting and engaging for your middle school students? Then use this fact or fiction game with 32 different statements that is both printable and digital!

Play this game in the style of the T.V. show “Deal or No Deal” by printing out the 32 facts or “fictions” and then placing them each inside their own numbered manila folder. Then it’s time to play the game with your students!

Here’s how:

Select a student to go first. That student goes to the front of the room and picks a number. The person who is holding the number that was picked reads the statement out loud. The student at the front of the room has to say if the statement is a fact or “fiction”. The teacher confirms the accuracy and if the student correctly guesses, they pick another folder. Otherwise, the student trades places with the student whose number was called.

By the end of the game, all of your students will be exposed to valuable background information for A Christmas Carol!

What’s included:

✅ Directions for the game

✅ 32 facts or “fictions” written in a clear, legible font so that everyone can see the information.

✅ Digital version of the 32 facts and “fictions” using Google Slides.

Your students will love this pre-reading game because they will be actively involved (even the most reluctant learners) and you will love it because it will save you time and energy!
