With [O Jogo da Velha], a.k.a. “Tic Tac Toe”, help your learners recognize and retain new nouns, including their corresponding definite article, exposing young students to grammar naturally. This game is always a success in my online European Portuguese Beginners Lessons and make lessons not only more fun, but above all, more interactive and engaging!

From asking a learner to say the corresponding Portuguese word to the image and the name of
a letter in Portuguese, or using the word in a sentence and identifying the word’s grammatical gender through identifying the corresponding definite article, as your student advances in their language learning journey, games, such as Tic Tac Toe, bring the learning cycle into full circle!

Games also provide for strategic “learning breaks” throughout your lessons!

PREPARING YOUR Tic Tac Toe Cards:

For best results, I recommend printing your materials on heavier weight paper or card stock. However, common printing paper works well, too.

Print and cut out your flashcards. For long-lasting fun and to annotate directly on the card with a dry erase marker, I recommend you laminate your materials.
