Ancient Egypt – NO PREP Book of the Dead Research Project

This NO PREP WEBQUEST and TASKS (answer key included) let students explore the importance the Ancient Egyptians attached to the Book of the Dead, and give them a glimpse of their fascinating and complex systems of belief.

Students research and answer questions about:

• what the Book of the Dead is and where was found,
• the origins and the development of the Book of the Dead,
• the content of the Book of the Dead and
• the most imporant spell – spell 125.

There are also two additional tasks:

• – a VOCABULARY TASK (vocab from the task) and
• – a WRITING TASK – Explaining to someone what the Egyptian Book of the Dead is.

How to use:

• Introduction to Ancient Egypt
• Students always find the Book of the Dead an interesting topic and they always ask about it. Why not use this product as an introduction to Ancient Egypt?
• Task – in class / homework
• Extra Credit Project 
• Students could complete the tasks as a part of their Ancient Egypt studies.
• Subplan
• Use it as a sub plan – no prep involved!
• Students will need access to the internet to complete the tasks. They can use whatever website or print source they want to complete the tasks – but not Wikipedia. They also have to include a list of the sources they used to complete the task.
