Awesome Name Activity – Flower Craft

This fun color word activity can be used any time of year, but I like to use it during the
first few days of school while learning names.  It’s great to first read the picture book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.

This Activity is Part of a Bundle

Make copies of the flower for each student.  The petals and flower head can be any
color.  I like to use a variety of colors to provide the kids with choices.

Students write their names onto the flower pot.  Next, have students write one letter of their name onto each petal.

Assemble the flower and petals in the correct order and glue it all together.  Discuss
how special names are and display the finished art on a wall or bulletin board
for all the class to admire.

This cutting, pasting, and name writing craftivity is perfect for preK and kindergarten students, but it can also be used as a fun ice breaker activity for the first few weeks of 1st.  It requires good fine motor cutting skills and the ability to assemble.

Enjoy!
