This lesson introduces your students to African American Artist
Horace Pippin, a folk painter known for his depictions of African
American life and of the horrors of war. Inside you will find a brief
art history lesson and an art project offering step by step instructions
to help your student create a piece of at work in the style of the
artist. This lesson is geared towards 2nd-5th grade students.
You can use these lessons in the following ways:
