Item description

These Christmas coordinate plane Quadrant I mystery graphing pictures are a great activity for your math lessons, early finishers, when there is a substitute, or just for an extra fun activity for your math class during December.

This bundle includes three types of mystery pictures:

Regular Christmas Mystery Graphing Pictures:

Students just graph the coordinate pairs in order, connecting the points until it tells them to stop and start a new line. When they are finished they have a fun Christmas themed picture to color. Pictures are of increasing difficulty, with the first picture having fewer coordinate pairs to plot than the last picture. Each picture has the coordinate grid and coordinate pairs together on one page. Answer keys are included.

Mystery pictures included with this resource:

  • Christmas stocking
  • Snowman face
  • Christmas tree with ornaments
  • Bundled up penguin

Create an Elf Graphing Pictures:

For these graphing pictures students will be plotting coordinate pairs in order, connecting the points with a line until it tells them to stop and start a new line, just like in regular mystery pictures. But for these mystery pictures, students have different sets of coordinate pairs to choose from based on what type of hat, hair and facial expression they want their elf to have. Everyone gets the same packet with coordinate grid, elf outline coordinates, and sets of coordinate pairs to choose from, so it’s low prep for you.

Symmetry Graphing Pictures:

Students complete fun Christmas coordinate plane mystery pictures, but there are only coordinates for the left half of the pictures. Down the middle of the grid is a dashed line, marking the line of symmetry. Students place points across this line of symmetry to complete their pictures.

Also included is a teacher’s guide with tips and extensions, as well as a quick symmetry activity that can be done as a whole class (under a doc cam or with printed copies) that makes sure all students know strategies for finishing their mystery pictures.

Three Christmas designs are included:

  • Star tree topper
  • Reindeer
  • Teddy bear.

All of these mystery pictures are in Quadrant I only, and use whole numbers only.
