Claim, Evidence and Reasoning is one of the paramount learning needs for our budding scientists.

Yet, it is so hard for them to grasp early on.

 

NOT NOW!!! MAKE CLAIM EVIDENCE AND REASONING (CER) EASY AND FUN!!!

 

This hands-on lab will help your students really understand how to take evidence, make a claim and then back then use the evidence to back up their claims. You will have 7 different situations they must look at the evidence given in picture form, generate a claim and then use that evidence to support their claims. Easy, real-life examples are given so they will all be able to come up with a claim. Not all claims will be the same which is great as long as they can support their claims!!

You will need:

•Laminate the pages

•Cut them out

•Place them in numbered bags

But that effort will be so worth the effort as your students will discuss what they think the evidence is trying to show.

Once they have tried this lab you could use my CER mini mysteries to really enforce how to read text to find evidence to support your claim. THEY LOVE THIS ONE AS WELL!!!!
