Writing compound sentences is easy when you know how. With these 4 easy-to-use worksheets students use the conjunctions “and”, “but”, “or”, and “so” to combine sentences and write sentences,

  • In the first worksheet students will identify the compound sentences in a list of simple and compound sentences, and circle the conjunction. They will also combine simple sentences to make a compound sentence.
  • The second worksheet asks students to complete compound sentences by adding a second simple sentence to the given first sentence and conjunction.  Students will also choose appropriate conjunctions to join the two given simple sentences.
  • The third worksheet asks students to make compound sentences by choosing simple sentences and conjunctions from a list and combining them.
  • The fourth worksheet provides extra practice with compound sentences, with similar exercises as in the first three worksheets.

Great for introduction to conjunctions or extra practice. These worksheets can be used for in-class work or take-home assignments.
