We all need to be prompted now and again! Provide one of these self-check squares to each student to use prior to turning in each constructed response or short answer question. The signature at the bottom is the student’s reassurance to the teacher; this helps hold students accountable for their own work.
Using this regularly will embed these self-checks into students’ long term memory; they will automatically perform these checks. Not only will this will make their answers on the state assessments much more effective, but this is also an important life skill.
Use the large, single sheet one to project on your interactive white board. It can also be used to make a poster for a classroom artifact.
