This set of counting money scavenger hunt activities helps students build essential math skills in a very fun way! Students will practice counting sets of mixed coins including pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.


To play, scatter the cards around the room. When students find a card, they count the coins pictured on the card to find the total amount of money. Then, they fill in the corresponding letter on their code sheet. If all coins are counted correctly, a secret message will be revealed!


There are 2 separate scavenger hunts in this resource:

  • Set A – space theme

  • Set B – sweet treats theme



Each set includes:

  • 15 counting money cards

  • Secret code recording sheet

  • Answer key


These activities can also be used in your math centers instead of as a scavenger hunt. Instructions included in the file.


Both sides of each coin are included in this resource, so students must be able to identify both.
