The science of reading is rooted in the fact that students should learn how to read decodable text. The sentences contain decodable words with minimal sight words. There aredecodable words containing two sounds (vc) and three sounds (cvc).

  • The following sight words in this resource: is, the, a, to, go, and, was, by, do, was, I, and his.
  • There are 12 sentences with digraphs.

 

Requires Preparation 

The directions in creating the CVC game are listed below. 

  1. Print out the spinner board. Have students color the board OR you can keep it white.
  2. Optional- Laminate the spinner for long term use.
  3. Attach the spinner or place on board. If you do not have a spinner, no problem. Use a paperclip and pencil. Have the pencil hold the paper clip and flick the paperclip. If you are looking for spinners, here are my go-to spinners on amazon. (Attached Below)
  4. Print CVC sentences. I prefer to cut my fluency strips on color paper. Print pages 14- 43 front to back.
  5. Cut out CVC fluency sentence.
