Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Are the worksheets different?

Yes! The short vowel/CVC worksheets focus on children decoding the word through picture clues and drawing practice. They also have a rhyming component.

The sight word worksheets focus more on whole word recognition through counting letters and using the word in a simple sentence.

Q: Are all CVC words included on the worksheets?

Because rhyming is the main activity for those worksheets, some CVC words that do not easily rhyme with many words were not included (ex. ‘hem.’).

Other words that are tricky for little readers or have a higher chance of misspellings only ask for 1 rhyme (ex. ‘fox’). Those worksheets are noted for you inside the resource.

Q: Do the QR codes need anything special to use them? My district won’t let us use QR codes.

You’ll need an app or camera capable of reading the QR code if you wish to use that component. They are a fun part of the activity but they are optional if you don’t want to (or can’t!) use them. The cards function without the QR codes, they just will not be self-checking.
