Item description

If your students are struggling with dividing syllables and syllable types, this fun and engaging game is the perfect way to practice decoding multisyllabic words and understanding syllable types. Players must correctly identify syllables to connect four words and win the game.

This activity complements your reading and phonics instruction, reading centers, and special education classes. It’s compatible with any Orton-Gillingham-based reading program and is aligned with the science of reading. With this game, your students will have a blast while they learn and improve their skills

This is a Google Slides™ file that contains 21 game boards which increase in difficulty to easily provide differentiated practice. Fourteen games practice individual rules, 6 games practice mixed rule review and 2 games use challenge nonsense words. It is designed to work with any Orton-Gillingham based reading program and is perfect for students with dyslexia.

Knowing how to divide and read syllables takes away the guessing and gives struggling readers the tools to accurately pronounce and spell words. Better decoding leads to improved reading fluency and comprehension. Games also provide practice with social skills, problem-solving, strategy, and communication.

This version of the game is meant to be played in Google Slides. It is a digital-only game and is not meant to be printed. If you would like a version to print and play, please see the Super Syllable Connect Game PDF version at Tammy’s Toolbox. A coordinating reference book on syllable division is also available.
