ELL Science Experiments | Reindeer Toothpaste
ELL students will love participating in a fun, hands-on activity while they learn about content area topics. Students will learn about endothermic and exothermic reactions in a visually supported way. They will follow simple steps to create reindeer toothpaste. They will read a simplified text explaining important content area science topics and answer comprehension questions. Then, they will write a summary of the experiment and an explanation of the scientific concepts. They will practice speaking using high-frequency academic vocabulary.

You will need to purchase 6% hydrogen peroxide from a beauty salon or online, plus other ingredients such as active dry yeast, blue food coloring, and dishwashing soap to complete the experiment. We also used safety glasses and a funnel.
