Item description
This low prep simple lab will show your students how plant cells change due to osmosis. Students will see plant cells both under turgor pressure and after plasmolysis. This also provides an opportunity for students not familiar with microscopes to practice using them. Portions of the lab procedure are translated so ESL students can successfully follow the procedure. The Elodea (Anacharis) can be purchased through Amazon or a local pet/fish store. For a bonus treat have your students place a leaf on a slide above the microscope’s light as a heat source, wait a few minutes and the chloroplasts will begin moving!
A version that can have other language translations added is also included.
