Use this no-prep activity to help students with rhyming poetry, English mechanics, and much more.
Sometimes poetry may seem daunting to a child, but with these sheets,
they have the opportunity to ‘finish’ a poem (similar to a collaborative
effort), as well as write their own poem. Through the story on
YT, children will realize the importance of practice, starting over,
and extra effort in order to achieve a goal. They’ll also see that it’s
okay to make mistakes.

readers and ESL learners can follow along, and I engage listeners with
This particular story is great for both of those
groups, as much of the text is read repeatedly because a little girl is
writing, and building on a poem she wrote. Please know I provide
teaching “moments”, not full-fledged lessons, in an effort to review
skills previously learned, or preview skills yet to come depending on
the level/age of the child. The goal is to provide a fun way for
children to learn without them realizing it’s a mini-lesson. This is an
independent learning activity, so the teacher/parent can simply let the
child/children watch the video, then give them the worksheets to
complete. The worksheets directly correspond to what I teach in the
