A packet of activities for forces and motion that include activities for gravity, magnetism, and mechanical forces. The activities allow students to explore the world of forces in an engaging approach. Ideal for grades 3-6 science, each force activity comes with a teacher information sheet and student activity sheets. The packet contains all of the resources below. Aligns to NGSS 3-PS2-1, NGSS 3-PS2-2, NGSS 3-PS2-3, and also includes the force of surface tension.

Force and Motion Worksheets: includes Cars in Motion worksheet, graph and data questions, matching worksheet, with answer keys.

Collision Ramp: a hands-on activity where students explore the effect of speed on collisions. Uses simple materials, also covers the effect of mass on collisions.

Force and Motion in Space: a reading comprehension article with question sheet. Compares motion on Earth and Space and identifies the force of friction.

Exploring Magnets: an inquiry experiment where students learn there are two different charges, positive and negative. Includes graphing worksheet and fun demonstrations.

Static Electricity: the perfect force to teach after magnets (weather depending) as the two forces have similarities.

The Force of Friction: students overlap pieces of paper and discover it becomes more difficult to pull the papers apart. The additive power of the force of friction is impressive!

Gravity Races: an activity where students drop paper wads of progressively smaller sizes and observe which hits first.

Paper Towel Strength: Student measure the force to break through different brands of paper towels.

Balloon Rockets and Force: students explore the pushing force of thrust by sending balloon rockets down a string.

Task Cards Force and Motion: a set of 36 task cards on force and motion. Student recording sheet and answer key included.

and as a bonus, Surface Tension Activities: the force of surface tension is an excellent example of a weak force for elementary students to explore. A collection of activities that includes breaking the force of surface tension.
