Three interactive ways to practice direct and indirect object pronouns in French class?! Oui, c’est vrai. French students will practice object pronouns le la les lui leur with this bundle of three engaging activities. It includes digital task cards from Boom Learning™, partner tic-tac-toe game, and a cooperative puzzle (printable or digital).

We have another bundle that includes these same resources PLUS an instructional presentation and student note organizer to help you save time!

We would implement the resources in the following order:

1. Digital Task Cards

2. Tic tac Toe Partner Game

3. Puzzle

Brief overview of each product:

Boom Learning™ Digital task cards:

The 30-digital cards include multiple choice, fill-in, answering questions, identifying direct/indirect, and four cards with double object pronouns in the answer. This is a great deck for students to practice at their own pace and receive instant feedback. You do need a free account to use and assign this deck to students. Easy set-up.

Tic tac Toe Partner Game

Students take turns rewriting the sentence with an object pronoun (Games 1-4) or answering a question with an object pronoun (Games 5-8). If they write a correct answer with an object pronoun, they make an X or O on the game board. Games 9-10 are for the advanced students; these games are purely answering the partner’s question with an object pronoun before earning an X or O.

Puzzle:

Students match sentences to their equivalents with object pronouns to form a 4×4 puzzle. For example: « Elle choisit la musique » is paired with « Elle la choisit. » This puzzle takes time and concentration to complete.

If used as a printable, print and cut the number of puzzles needed. We recommend students work in small groups but partners would work, too.

If used as a digital resource via Google Slides™, there are different sized puzzles and levels of difficulty from which to choose (2×2 and 3×2 with rotating puzzle pieces, 2×2 and 3×2 without rotating pieces, 4×4 without rotations).

Need a formal instructional resource before implementing these activities?

Check out our presentation and activities resource in PowerPoint and Google Slides. It is included in this 4-resource bundle (presentation, task cards, tic-tac-toe and puzzle).
