How can this be implemented?

1. Printable: PDF in download. This is not editable. However, you can email us at frenchwiththehobbs@gmail.com and we can help you out!

2. Google Slides™: Students will see the story and questions as images. They will type responses in text boxes. Remember, you and your students must have Google accounts to access this.

How could I use this in the classroom?

Because you have 3 different passages with 4 different options, you have so many choices on how to implement them!

1. Before instruction:

Ask students to find all the passé composé in the first reading. See what they can deduce by reading the passage.

2. After instruction:

After teaching le passé composé, give them a story to analyze and evaluate. Circle “être” conjugations and underline past participles.

3. Review:

Has it been awhile since you’ve talked about PC avec être? This could be a good review for students to pull their PC knowledge out from the depths of their brains!

4. Homework:

Take this home for extra practice

5. Small group work/ independent practice

Take some time in class for students to work with peers or individually and really dive into the PC via discussions and questions.

6. Assessment:

Since they are already familiar with the format of the passages, save one as a form of assessment.

7. Give students CHOICE!

Choice is power and by giving students a choice in how they decipher the text, they will feel empowered in their work.

8. Use this anytime

Since there are multiple reading passages, you have margin to use at different points in the unit (or apart from a specific unit) and in different ways. Plus, since there’s no prep required, keep them in your toolbox and pull out in a pinch!
