Counting and modeling numbers can be difficult for young students to master- especially when they haven’t had enough practice with the format of questions we use on our assessments. This resource can be used in a variety of ways to give your kids the exposure they need to be successful!

*This resource was created to be used with Go Math! for first grade, but will work great with any math program!

NOTE: This product was created as an unofficial companion to the Go Math! program and is NOT endorsed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company.

A digital version is included which can be used with Google Slides and added to your Google Classroom.

This Resource Includes:

✎ 30 Pages with 72 Items (Items are organized by content focus and Go Math Lesson)

✎ Printable PDF Version

✎ Digital Version for Use with Google Classroom

Content Focus: counting by ones to 120, counting by tens to 120, understanding and making tens and ones to 100, showing numbers in different ways, model, reading, and writing numbers from 100 to 120

This Resource is For:

• First grade teachers using Go Math who want to give their students the practice they need with items that are aligned to the program assessments (not included) for Chapter 6, Count and Model Numbers.

• First grade teachers (not using Go Math) who want to give their students the practice they need with counting and modeling numbers.

Two Ways to Use These Materials:

– Use the items included in this pack as extra practice for each lesson in independent and small group/one-one-one settings.

– Before you give your students a math test, give them the Chapter Review/Test from the text (not included) as a formative assessment. Then analyze the results to form groups and plan meaningful instruction that targets your students’ specific weaknesses. This way, you can maximize your instructional time. Use just the pages that your group needs in order to improve.

What Teachers are saying about My Go Math Extra Practice Resources:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Terrific resource. My kids get the concepts, but still struggle with the way Go Math presents the questions. This practice packet aligns perfectly with how the questions are asked on the assessment. Thank you!” – Stephanie R.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Absolutely love these Go Math packs! They are perfect as independent work for my kids.” – Buyer

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “These practice sheets have been wonderful for my Tier 3 math students! They take the highly abstract concepts of Go Math and make them concrete enough for my students to do, sometimes independently. I am able to easily differentiate further as needed. Thank you!” – Jennifer L.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “These are amazing! I have bought every chapter up until now and will continue to buy the rest. They are great practice and align perfectly with the Go Math lessons and chapter tests.” – Stephanie Lynn W.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Great short practices of the skills in Go Math. Super for reteaching those who didn’t get it the first time and extra practice to keep skills fresh before chapter test. Thank you!” – Buyer

Why I Use This Resource

When my district first adopted Go Math several years ago, the transition was a bit of a struggle. That’s putting it lightly.

Moving from our old program to this brand new, common core aligned program was overwhelming to say the least. The strategies, skills, and concepts seemed so much more complex than what we were used to. And I couldn’t seem to find any resources that targeted the harder skills I was teaching my students.

After several years of using Go Math, I see the value in the program and how it challenges and pushes students to their highest potential. However, each year I have many students who struggle with the content and need more practice in order to demonstrate mastery on assessments.

I decided to create these extra practice pages to give my students the exposure they SO badly needed. Items are organized by content focus and Go Math Lesson- making it super easy to keep track of everything.

Since using these pages, I’ve seen a remarkable improvement in my students’ understanding and application of the math. I wish I’d had them since I first started teaching common core math! They are a GAME CHANGER.
