This FUN lesson gets kids thinking about video games with some great activities to spark their interest, then they are guided to write a detailed persuasive paragraph. There is even a formula for writing a thesis. My students LOVE this and I have gotten the best results from them. You could use this in an avid study skills class or to bond with your students. It is completely editable so add, change, or delete anything to meet the needs of your students. There is a peer edit page, a self-checklist, as well as a rubric you can use to grade their paragraphs. My students came to life with a topic they are so passionate about.
I have also deleted all of the writing slides and just had my students complete the gaming activities… it turned into a great bonding activity with fun topics for discussion.
