Item description

Engage students in learning about habitats, plants and animals with this minimal prep 20 day science unit. Students will work with hands-on centers, research projects and various worksheets to learn all about these life science topics. A two page teaching guide and learning targets are included.

Students will start by learning about 8 different habitats (arctic, desert, forest, mountain, ocean, freshwater, rain forest, and savanna). They will identify plants and animals in those habitats, as well as living and non-living components. Then, students will look at specific life cycles of plants and animals. They will then move into talking about characteristics and adaptations that animals make to survive in various habitats. Finally, students will complete a cumulative project making a habitat out of a shoe box. Assess students at the end of the unit with a 3 page comprehensive assessment.
