✏️ How Does it Work?

  • Each time you check your students’ understanding of a standard, provide feedback that includes their current proficiency level (1-4).
  • Students should find the standard on their tracking sheet and shade up to their current level (creating a bar graph).
  • Students will track their progress and growth by shading up to their new level each time they receive feedback, with the goal of reaching at least a level 3 by the end of the school year.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Modeling – In the beginning, you will need to demonstrate how to use the data sheets and remind students to update their graphs when they receive feedback. However, you will be pleasantly surprised by how quickly your students begin to track their data independently and become more invested in their learning!
  • Data Folders/Binders – Hole punch each tracking sheet OR use page protectors for students to store them safely in a 3-prong folder or binder. If you teach multiple subjects, use dividers/tabs to help students organize their graphs and easily find a specific subject/strand.

Do you teach ELA and science as well? Then SAVE with the 5th Grade NGSS + CCSS Bundle, which includes tracking sheets for all three subjects!
