This is an exciting math adventure in which students solve multi-step problems to help the wizard cast his spell!

This activity is designed for students learning to convert between units of measurement (using both standard and metric units). It also involves solving equations with the four operations. Students can work together in small groups or with partners to complete the activity. But if you prefer, it can be used as an independent activity as well.

The goal is to finish writing a spell in the wizard’s book of spells. To do this, students must find certain objects. However, the only way to find the objects is to solve math problems involving standard and metric units of measurement. Once a problem is solved correctly, one of the needed objects will be revealed.

This resource includes both a printed and digital option. The digital option combines printed task cards with online submission and checking of answers through Google Forms. You do NOT need to have Google Classroom for this. As long as your students have internet-enabled devices, they can use the digital option.
