The time
around New Year’s Eve and Day and the activities around it can be a puzzling
time for children with autism or special education needs. This New Year’s
social story and early learning bundle will be
helpful to introduce concepts about what New Years is and what to expect to
preschool or early elementary age children and introduce them to what a resolution
is and what things they might make as a New Year’s resolution. Fun worksheets
are included with themes around winter, penguins, and snow. Topics introduced
in the social narrative include includes what activities they might do or see
and suggests ways to handle overwhelm if they feel this during the holiday
activities. One of the activities that is often difficult during this time of
year is the volume of fireworks. The interactive book practices the concept of understanding
which things are loud and what things in the environment are quiet. A 1-page
mini coloring book that reviews the social story is included as well as color
and b & w vocabulary cards and tracing cards.
