About Phonological and Phonemic Awareness

Phonological and phonemic awareness are a vital set of skills that allows us to learn how to read.

Research suggests that trouble with phoneme awareness and phonological skills early on is a gauge for poor reading and spelling skills.

As teachers, it is our responsibility to ensure our students have a strong, and competent reading foundation. 

I wanted to have all the phonological and phonemic awareness skills in one place, so to explicitly cater for all students. I created my own phonological and phonemic awareness interventions for RTI sessions. 

I wanted to ensure all the activities were no fuss. I created games you can use 1:1, or in very small groups, that need NO PREPARATION. Just place all the assessments, and intervention into binders (in sleeves), and you’re good to go.

Interventions:

Many times, we don’t have enough time to plan out, prepare and implement interventions. 

The interventions in this download save you all that time planning, and preparing. 

Once you have all the activities in a binder, all you will need is: counters, dice, and playdough. You will then be able to guide your instruction, and pinpoint specific skills a student needs to work on. You will know exactly where to start your interventions, and target students’ challenges straight away.
