Banana cells are another option for viewing eukaryotic plant cells under the microscope. One green banana will serve the needs of your entire class! The complete procedure to prepare a slide of banana cells for microscopic examination is described. Images of example slides are provided so that students will have an idea of what to look for. An student activity sheet provides the procedure as well as a labeled microscopic diagram template.
