These parent communication, positive notes for students are perfect for acknowledging positive behavior, strong effort, and hard work. They are a great way to build a positive classroom culture as you head back to school this year!
This resource is a great addition to your classroom management repertoire. Many of my students-including some of my more challenging students- would work extra hard if I told them I’d send home a positive note. This often worked better than other rewards they could earn.
It’s such a simple, yet effective, way to build positive relationships with your students, and to increase communication with parents. It’s also an effective tool in the secondary classroom. I spent the first 7 years of my teaching career in 7th and 8th grade, and my middle school students loved receiving a positive note. For many of my teenaged-students, they preferred receiving a note rather than public praise. With that in mind, these cactus notes are designed to be sophisticated enough for the secondary classroom.
This product includes 17 pages of positive notes. 7 pages feature 4 notes to a page and 7 pages feature 2 notes to a page for those times when you want to write a more detailed note!
If you are at a PBIS school or use restorative practices in your classroom, these notes are a great way to make sure you’re giving students positive recognition.
PBIS states that we should have a ratio of 4:1 positive to negative interactions with each one of our students. One great way to achieve that goal is writing positive notes! My students love the positive incentive of receiving a note to take home to their parents, sharing about their day at school.
