Objectives

  • At the end of this activity, students will be familiar with the three Spanish conjugations, and will be able to conjugate regular verbs in present indicative. Also, they will have used them in simple sentences.
  • Students can conjugate simple common verbs (ar, er, and ir verbs) in Spanish.
  • Students can correctly conjugate and write sentences that contain common (ar, er, and ir verbs) classroom object vocabulary in Spanish. 
  • Students can recognize simple common verbs (ar, er, and ir verbs) in Spanish.
  • Students can read basic sentences in Spanish and identify if the simple common verbs (ar, er, and ir verbs) are conjugated correctly. 


Activity Summary

Students will learn verbs’ classification into three categories by trying to classify some verbs on their own. Later, they will watch a video where conjugation of regular verbs in present indicative is explained. After preparing a cheat sheet, they will practice conjugation in a team contest that includes: a. saying to what conjugation belongs each verb; b. conjugating it in all its persons; and c. after throwing a die, make a simple sentence in the corresponding person with the help of some expressions that are provided.
