The Red and Blue Number Rods are an iconic Montessori material. They are also very large and expensive!

Here you can print your own. Choose to color your number rods, and then print and glue/tape together, or print the rods that are already colored properly, in Red and Blue. There is a set of printable numerals included to use with the rods.

The red and blue number rods help children learn the names of numbers and their sequence and learn to correctly associate between the spoken number and its quantity. Children grow to understand that each rod represents a unique quantity and that each number is represented by a single object as a whole, separate from others.

This material is suitable for any child – whether in a traditional Montessori environment or not.
