Hola, maestras y maestros! Get ready to spice up your Spanish class with a game that will have your students moving and learning at the same time. Say hello to “Ritmo de Sillas Musicales: The Ultimate Game of Vocab Musical Chairs!” This game takes the classic musical chairs and adds a fun twist by incorporating vocabulary cards into the mix. And the best part? Your students won’t even realize they’re learning as they play! It belongs to my Juegos product line.

Maestro Pablo has done it again with his guitar and catchy lyrics, creating a seven-minute music video that you can stream on Youtube using the link provided in the PDF. Each chair has a cut-out vocab card, with three categories to choose from: Animales, Colores, or Lugares. As the music plays, students walk around the circle until it stops. Once the music stops, they have to find a chair and pick up the vocab card. The last one to sit in the chair wins the round!

But the fun doesn’t stop there! We’ll play multiple rounds, removing one chair each time until there’s only one chair left and two players left competing for it. And by the end of the game, every player will have learned three new words: an animal, a color, and a place.

Not only will your students love the game, but they’ll also get the chance to reinforce their vocabulary through repetition. Plus, the printable worksheet included in the package provides a relaxing coloring activity that incorporates the vocab cards, giving your students a chance to wind down while still practicing their new words.

Instructions:

1. We’ll set up a row of chairs in a circle, with the same number of chairs as players.
   
2. Each chair will have a cut-out vocab card from one of three categories: Animales, Colores, o Lugares.
   
3. We’ll start by playing the song and having everyone walk around the circle. When the music stops, everyone finds a chair and picks up the vocab card from that chair. A hint is that between each pause in the song there are 8 seconds of silence. If you need more time to remove a chair, feel free to pause the music during the silence.
   
4. We’ll play multiple rounds, removing one chair each time, until there’s only one chair left and two players left competing for it. The last person to sit in the chair wins the game!
   
5. We’ll play the game three times, each time using a different category of vocab cards. By the end of the game, every player will have three words: an animal, a color, and a place.
   
6. Finally, we’ll ask everyone to share their three words and use a worksheet to draw a picture that includes all three.
