Item description

Get students excited with this printable PBL Math activity which provides an engaging, differentiated math challenge for students. Students are tasked with running a sweets stand at the farmers’ market for a day. Using their knowledge of addition and subtraction, they are required to take orders, tally and graph sale data, complete a data analysis report, calculate stock inventory and more! Students then bring our their creativity by creating 3 new sweet items to sell, redesign the sweets stand and create an advertisement for the stand/new items. There is a reflection question sheet to complete once the project has been completed.

This PBL is great as extended practice or even as an end of unit or end of year review.

There are THREE DIFFERENTIATED menus for this activity.

The first version has a menu with 2 digit number prices and challenges students to use their knowledge of 2 digit addition and subtraction to complete the activity.

The second version has a menu with prices in whole dollars only which gives students a real life experience in counting, adding and subtracting money and calculating change.

The third version has a menu with prices in dollars and cents, which is perfect for those students up for a challenge.

Use the version that is suitable for your students or use all three to differentiate. These can be used as an individual project exercise or it can be completed in small groups.
