The IB framework of using key concepts helps students categorize, make connections and see relationships between ideas and science disciplines. Understanding the framework is important for students to participate in the metacognition process of their own learning.

Science Standards – Works toward one of the IB aims in science – understand and appreciate science and its implications

ATL/SEL Skills:  These are known as “Approaches to Learning” skills (ATL). These are more commonly known as SEL or social and emotional skills. ATL Skills for this lesson: Critical thinking – Use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues and make connections between subject groups and disciplines

Lesson Structure and Teacher Tips: This is a one day lesson to introduce the key concepts framework used in IB for MYP science.
