This set of 7 worksheets provides practice with four types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative.  There are short explanations and examples for each type, and practice in identifying each type, adding correct punctuation, and writing their own sentences of each type.

Includes:

  • #1 – Declarative sentences – students circle the declarative sentences in a list of sentences, and write 3 declarative sentences of their own.
  • #2 – Interrogative sentences – students circle the interrogative sentences in a list of sentences, and write 3 interrogative sentences of their own.
  • #3 – Exclamatory sentences – students circle the exclamatory sentences in a list of sentences, and write 3 exclamatory sentences of their own.
  • #4 – Imperative sentences – students circle the imperative sentences in a list of sentences, and write 3 imperative sentences of their own.
  • #5 – Practicing Punctuation – students decide whether given sentences are declarative or interrogative, add correct ending punctuation, and write the type of sentence on the line.
  • #6 – Practicing Punctuation – students decide whether sentences are exclamatory or imperative, add correct ending punctuation, and write the type of sentence on the line.
  • #7 – What Kind of Sentence Is It? – Students identify each of 8 sentences. They write a sentence of their own of each type.

These worksheets can be used as part of a regular curriculum, or as extra practice, reinforcement, or review.
