Student Inventories/Get-to-Know-Me activities are a great way to get to know your students, and they make for fun ice-breaker activities during the first days and weeks of school!

 

They’re also fun to do at the end of the school year so that students can see how their interests may have changed since the beginning of the year.

 

What’s Included:

  • A black and white option, and a color option are included for each of the 5 activities
  • You will see from the thumbnails that questions range from fun and silly to thought-provoking, which makes these activities great for both elementary students in grades 2 through 5, as well as middle school students! (For example, fun and silly questions such as “If you could have any super power, what would it be?” And thought-provoking “One thing I’d like to change about the world is…”)

 

When I use these activities with my own students, I like to model the activity using my own “favorites” and interests, which not only helps students understand what’s expected, but it helps them get to know their new teacher! After, I allow students time to complete the activity on their own, and then we share our answers as a class (fun ice-breaker!). Finally, when the activity is over, you’re left with some GREAT student work that can be displayed on bulletin boards almost immediately! (No more worrying about having students rush to get work up on the walls for Back-to-School Night)
