Item description

Most children and many adults love to bounce around on a trampoline! But almost no one knows the story of George Nissen and the invention of the trampoline. Nissen, a talented American gymnast, decided in the 1930s to invent, promote, and sell what he originally called the “bouncing table” and what later became trademarked as the trampoline. This is the story of the trampoline and trampolining, from the early days in Nissen’s garage to its inclusion as an Olympic event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

This Common Core-aligned text is teacher and student-friendly and written for use in Grades 5-8. It can be implemented in a number of ways by teachers (close reading, direct instruction in class, independent practice, absence work, homework, test prep, assessment, centers, etc).
