Item description
This unit will engage high school students in a study of The Miracle
Worker by William Gibson. Students will conduct research, respond to
the play, explore techniques such as point of view and flashbacks,
analyze character and theme, and more! Low-prep – just print and go!
The following activities are included:
1. Intro activities – articles related to being blind and deaf, discussion questions, and response
2.
Intro research – students develop background knowledge for the play by
learning about topics like Helen Keller, blindness and deafness, the
Braille system, etc.
3. Act 1 part 1 discussion questions and journal entry
4. Act 1 part 2 discussion questions
5. Act 2 part 1 discussion questions and responses
6. Act 2 part 2 discussion questions and flashback response
7. Act 3 discussion questions and theme activity
8. Final project – character sketch/thematic analysis
Marking guides included.
This unit will take approximately 2 weeks to complete.
