This is a set of activities based on the story Stone Soup. It includes a decodable book that builds fluency, phonics, and comprehension skills plus companion worksheets and word work. Students will practice reading words with vowel teams and answering text-based questions.

WORD CARDS
Each card includes a picture and a word from the story that contains a vowel team. The words have elkonin boxes in place of the target letters. Students say the word and determine what vowels are missing. These cards can be laminated and used with dry erase markers in your reading centers. Includes 20 cards.

On each worksheet, students read and sort words containing the focus vowel pairs. On worksheet 1, there are also pictures with words that contain elkonin boxes in place of the vowels. Students say the word and fill in the missing letters. On worksheet 2, they complete long A words by adding the correct vowel team. On worksheet 3, they sort the words by the sound the OO or OU produces.
