Item description

This lesson allows students to use Microsoft Word, Google Docs or Canva to create a printable Valentine’s Day card. A complete, step-by-step instruction guide is included for Microsoft Word, a Quick Start Guide is included for Canva, and links are also provided to online tutorials for Google Docs and Canva. Also included are the project expectations and a grading rubric. This is a fun, creative project that reinforces technology skills while inspiring creativity in students. Different software options allow teachers to utilize available resources, give students a choice of which software they would like to use, and encourage new learning skills. The lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could easily be used in upper elementary or high school as well. All files are editable.

Resources Required

· Access to computers for each student with Internet access and Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or Canva (free, no download needed: https://www.canva.com/)

· Printer (color or black & white) to print cards

· Paper (white and colored)

· Whole class overview demonstration of the basic program tools and resources for the lesson(s): ½ to 1 (50 minute) class period
