Item description
If you’re looking for a virtual lab to supplement your mitosis unit, this Virtual Mitosis Lab will be perfect! It’s designed to go along with an online lab found at the Arizona Biology website.
In the online lab, students will be viewing images of cells in various stages of mitosis. They’ll identify each one according to phase and tally the number of cells in each.
This print-and-go resource will take them much further! This 4- page lab includes:
- comprehension questions for the online pre-lab reading
- data table for tallying the cells
- data table for calculating percentages of cells and the number of minutes cells spend in each phase, along with instructions for the calculations
- analysis questions
- chromosome drawing to label
- illustrations of mitosis to describe identifying characteristics
Use this resource as your full mitosis lab, or as a supplement to your wet lab. It’s also perfect for students who are absent, since the lab can be done independently.
Students should have a working knowledge of mitosis and the cell cycle. The resource is not meant as an introductory lab.
Please note: students will need internet access in order to complete this lab. This is a printable resource. It is virtual, but NOT digital.
