Item description

Teach your students about the history of British America (Colonial America) in the 1600s! Works great for any US history class that is learning about the colonies before the American Revolution. Students will have a better understanding of what life was like during the colonial days. Students will learn more details about the 13 original colonies.

This a a great PowerPoint (or Google Slides) you can use to present to your class or give to them to study on their own. The design is professional and minimal (i.e. NO death by PowerPoint). The content is very detailed in the notes, so if you are busy, you can simply open the slides in front of the class and read the notes. Otherwise, you can make changes to the PPT, if you deem it necessary. This presentation can be used in Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Content in PPT includes:

  • Detailed timeline (1607-1754)

  • The origins of slavery in the New World (with a concentration on British America)

  • The early development of the 13 colonies

  • English Civil War (Parliamentarians versus Royals) and the execution of Charles I

  • Glorious Revolution

  • Pequot War

  • Mystic Massacre

  • King Philip’s War (Metacomet’s War)

  • Bacon Rebellion

  • Pueblo Revolt

  • and more!

This presentation goes over the history of slavery in the New World from the late 1400s to the 1700s. It details the different forms of slavery and how it effects life today in the United States. It then discusses some events that took place in England (i.e. English Civil War and Glorious Revolution), and how these events effected British America and its development. The last portion of the presentation goes over some of the biggest wars, rebellions, and revolts that took place in the 1600s. This is a great discussion piece because many of the topics can be compared to current events.

This PPT (Google Slides) follows standard American history textbooks.
