Goal: To collect all 9 puzzle pieces and solve the mystery picture

How to play:

• Group students into 4 or 5. Since there are 9 reading tasks, students can collaborate and help one another to finish them and collect all the puzzle pieces.
• The students are given the puzzle pieces page after the teacher ensures the answers are correct. They cut the puzzle pieces and solve the puzzle.
• After all the teams are done and if there is time left, complete the collaborative poster.

The nine (9) reading tasks include:

1. Fill in the Blank. Students will complete a reading passage about Anna May Wong.
2. Word Search. Students will search 8 words from the grid and unscramble the letters to find the mystery word.
3. Timeline of Events. Students write the important events that happened based on the passage.
4. Decoding Message. Students decode a quote using the cryptogram decoder.
5. Comprehension Questions. Students re-read the passage and answer the comprehension questions.
6. Find Your Way. Students make their way through the maze by following only the true statements. Then, they unscramble the letters to determine the 7-letter mystery word.
7. Find and Fix. Students will correct the incorrect statements.
8. Central Focus. Students write the main idea and three (3) supporting details.
9. Context Clues. Students use clues from the sentence to figure out what the word means.
