Item description

Students can build a chocolate candy box for Valentine’s Day while learning to increase sentence length. Perfect activity for Valentine’s Day Speech and Language Therapy! Increasing sentence length, expanding utterances and speaking in complete sentences during speech and language therapy are IEP goal areas that SLPs work on daily. Finding motivating activities that also teach key vocabulary and semantic skills is often difficult. The students will request the items needed to fill the Valentine’s candy box while learning key vocabulary words as an added bonus.

The following goal areas are easily addressed with this activity:

  • Shape Identification

  • Increasing MLU

  • Vocabulary

  • Syntax

  • Answering WH ?

  • Requesting Items

  • Sequencing

  • Fine Motor Skills

  • Following Directions

  • Adjectives

This activity would also work as a file folder game for speech and language therapy or as a motivational game activity for mixed groups.
