This cultural scaffolded activity includes 3 versions so it can be completed by novice, intermediate low/mid, and intermediate-high/advanced students.

With this reading comprehension activity, students learn about the national day to celebrate the Afro culture in Argentina and its importance.

  • Novice students read four text boxes with basic information about the celebration of Día Nacional de los Afroargentinos and identify the cognates in the text and use them to complete a word search. They also answer some reading comprehension questions.
  • Intermediate Low/Mid students read an extended text about Día Nacional de los Afroargentinos to answer a true or false activity.
  • Intermediate High/Advanced students read the full text about Día Nacional de los Afroargentinos to discuss with a classmate the reading comprehension questions, give their opinion on racism, and create a post to promote the celebration of this day.
