Included in this resource is 2 adapted books so that you can use to differentiate for your students. Also included is an interactive mini booklet and emotion flash cards which focus on 10 common emotions and feelings:

Happy, sad, angry, upset, confused, shy, embarrassed, surprised, scared and nervous.

The books and flash cards are available in color and black and white for your convenience.

Note: This resource features male emotions only. The female emotions adapted book is available in my store or grab both in a discounted bundle!


It uses engaging visuals, targeted highlighted vocabulary words, and is an interactive hands on resource and is perfect for early learners and those teaching in special education. Students will love these books and the attached activities as they learn how to identify emotions within themselves and in others.

Adapted Book Vocabulary Words

Students read the question and/or look at the picture, and select the correct word that describes that emotion from the vocabulary list.

Adapted Book Matching Images

Students read the question and the sentence, look at the picture and select the correct image that matches that emotion from the image list.

Mini Interactive Booklet

Students prepare their mini booklets and match the emotion image to the correct sentence. The emotion in each sentence is underlined.

Emotion Flash Cards

Use these before introducing the adapted books and interactive booklet. Discuss each emotion, ways to identify that emotion in the student and in others and point out the written word. Can also be used as posters, reference cards, small or whole group discussion cards or even as vocabulary posters in a writing or SEL center.
