  1. 16-slide PowerPoint showing examples of figurative language in “All Shook Up” by Elvis Presley and “Replay” by Iyaz. If you click on the photos, they will link to the YouTube videos.
  2. Student handout of the song lyrics. While I play the song, students hunt for examples of figurative language. Then I go over the songs using the PowerPoint.
  3. Directions for student group work where students will find and present their own songs to the class (could also be completed individually).
