Item description

“Mrs. Maxey loves her Dr Pepper and EVERYONE in the building knows it from the principal down to the custodians and everyone in between. BUT, they also know she only has a Dr Pepper on special occasions, like holidays, vacations, special events, etc. Today is homecoming and the day is always crazy, so Mrs. Maxey decided to treat herself to a Dr Pepper. She poured it out into a cup and then went to take a quick break before the students started to arrive. When she returned, the Dr Pepper was gone! Someone had come in and drank it! Your job is to analyze lip prints from the crime scene and the people in the building at the time to determine who is most likely the perpetrator.”

This lesson was designed specifically to me. EVERYONE in the building knows I like Dr Pepper but I only have it as a treat (vacation, holiday, special event, etc). I would schedule this lesson close to homecoming or a holiday or testing day (regular classes) and assign faculty names to the suspect lip prints to make it fun.

Here is a short preview video of the entire lesson. Links to all materials are embedded in the lesson plan.

NOTE: I used this lesson with 7th and 8th graders but it could be leveled up or down.

NOTE: This lesson/activities can be digital or in person.
