How does it work?

In this escape room, your students have inexplicably transformed into “horrible vermin” and can only turn back into normal teenagers by solving 5 different skills-based puzzles, discovering codes, and finding clues along the way.

• Crossword Puzzle: In the first task, students solve a crossword puzzle with questions about literary elements, quotes, and plot details within Metamorphosis.
• Literary Match Up: In the second task, students draw lines to match passages within the story to the literary element they represent. (Elements included: 3 types of irony, alliteration, onomatopoeia, simile, metaphor, personification)
• Missing Word: In the third task, students fill in the blanks of notable quotes within the story.
• Plot it Out: In the fourth task, students must order the plot events of Metamorphosis on Freytag’s Pyramid.
• Jig Saw Quote: In the final task, students must complete a jig saw puzzle (2 separate puzzles included for differentiation) that reveals a quote from Franz Kafka that connects to major themes within Metamorphosis. Once they figure it out and bring it to you, your students transform back into human beings!
