1.10C Animals and their babies

This resource includes several activities that will help you teach your lesson about animals and their young. The objective is 1.10C Compare ways that young animals resemble their parents.

You will find:

➢ A
PowerPoint presentation with 12 slides explaining how to compare animals and their offspring using 4 points of comparison: color / design, body structure, food and ways of moving.

➢ 6 comparison activities: 3 with Venn Diagram and 3 with sentence frames. Each activity is provided with 2 levels of difficulty (blank and with words). Color and black and white versions are included too. Blank sentence frame activities include keywords (color, body parts, food and move) as a guide.

Student booklet: Each student will pick an animal (there are 4 animals to choose from – rhino, koala, penguin and elephant) and write sentences about the animal and its baby. I’ve included 2 different levels, one with just a keyword at the top (color, body parts, food and move) and the other one with sentence stems.
